Frequently asked questions
Q Will my procedure be painful?
Topical anaesthetics are used for client comfort and most areas to be treated are prenumbed. Some people take a pain relieving medication prior. Every effort is made to keep any procedure discomfort to a minimum. Sometimes it can be a little uncomfortable or irritating but the result of your procedure will far outweigh any pain.

Q How long does it last?
Colour can last anywhere from 12 months to 5 years depending on the colour implanted. The lighter the colour, naturally, the quicker it fades. Colour retention is difficult to determine and many things can impact on it, especially aftercare, sun exposure, the use on the tattooed area of AHA'S or products containing glycolic acid. Wearing sunscreen will protect your procedure from fading in the sun.

Your consultatiom can be carried out separately to your procedure if you wish.
A Health questionnaire and disclaimer will be completed by all clients before any procedure is carried out.
Photo's are available of procedures and colours used.
Your approved colour will be selected.
The procedure will be carried out, payment will be taken, aftercare pack and instructions given and any further questions answered.
A 6 week followup appointment will be made.

Depending on the condition, a letter may be required from your doctor before your procedure is carried out. This can be discussed over the phone or at your consultation.

Q How will it look? I don't want to look like an angry bird with dark eyebrows and bright lips
The look can be as subtle or strong as you wish and depending on the colour pigment being implanted. Some people want dark, stark or bright colours. Others want soft, natural, more muted colours. Its important that as a Practitioner I ensure we communicate so that I understand your needs.

Q How do I choose a good practitioner?
Sadly there is no formal Regulatory Authority in Australia yet that overseas or checks the legitimacy of a Cosmetic Tattooing Business other than those registered with the Health Department. So with this in mind, its important that you do your homework to ensure you make a fully informed choice of qualified and properly trained Practitioner.
Firstly its important to ensure the person you choose is actually a certified Cosmetic Tattooist. Anyone can buy a tattoo machine, inks and pigments off the internet. There is more to being qualified than being able to implant pigment into someones skin. Ask to see a Certificate of training if its not freely available in their clinic. They should carry insurance, display a registration of their business and have photo's available of procedures they've done and clients that are happy to be contacted as references.
The premises where work is being carried out should be clean and the practitioner themselves should be Professional and well presented. It is unprofessional and unhygeinic for a someone to work out of the living room of their house or a motel room. (yes it happens)
How long they've been doing procedures isn't necessarily what's important, its the number of procedures they've actually done which is more so. Everyone has turn learn and start somewhere so cheaper pricing options are usually in place until a practitioner has established herself.
Continued education is also an important aspect of their business as is belonging to a Professional Association. Its important that a good practitioner can produce certification proof of continued education.
